Just thought I'd throw that out there. I think tuesday where I'm at was literally the coldest spot in North America, and the second coldest spot ON EARTH.

i believe it's only supposed to get up to 58 degrees tomorrow. looks like i may have to break out the winter coat and thermal underwear.

it was -56 with windchill where i am from i went out for 5 min to check my mail i was num when i got back

i hate all of you guys i live in south florida and the high has been 90 everyday with a low of 78.

god i hate florida

It's one thing I'm currently actively NOT missing. No snow in NYC yet and it's not as cold as Canada, but give it some time...

It snowed here about thirteen or fourteen years ago and stuck. A few years ago there was a little slush for about an hour. Last year we hit a record at two degrees one night, but except for freak incidents like that our average temperature variation between summer and winter is about 10 degrees. Maybe.

If you want snow you can spend fifteen minutes going up to the higher altitudes, and if you want heat you can spend an hour going south and maybe a bit east. Pretty damn nice. The weather is never really good, but it's never bad, which makes up for it. Although filming days would be easier to schedule if rain were more predictable.

Also, that time it was around two degrees? Great night to go to the coldest places in the county and try to get a good picture. Two in the morning mid winter is my equivalent to the golden hour (not a fan of sunset shots).

think of your mailman. he doesn't deliver mail for 5 mins. he also doesn't have the best heat in his jalopy. no wonder why they :kali:

Is that in Alberta? I hear they hit -59 with the windchill. Insane.

I just got home from meeting up with friends. We were talking about different projects we're on and one buddy of mine offered me a script he had written and said it was perfect for Betrayalfest. He tells me the story, which turns out to be pretty darn sweet, but 90% of the film is night ext.

It's been -30 here everyday for the last 2 weeks....
And it will be just as cold if not colder in Jan/Feb

needless to say , I'm not shooting his script.

It's 32 here in Maryland and I'm Freezing! I just can't imagine "CANADA cold". Seriously -30!!! can you even go outside in that? I despise cold weather.

Go outside?? F**k yeah!! Just gotta dress for it. A prairie cold is dry unlike the coast ( which goes right thru you)...
I remember doing 'The Osmonds' bio film in 2001, and I had to babysit a couple of camera guys fron Entertainment Tonight. We went for a smoke ( quit 4 years now), and they dressed in full Winterboots and -70 rated parkas just to got outside for a 3 minute puff - while we were in our sweaters. They thought we we're completely f***ed. lol
But to their defense...they left LA at 7AM at +27c and arrived a few hours later here when we were sitting at a balmy -35. The ET guys and entire Osmond family were here for 5-6 hours and most swore they would never return between Jan-March ever again.
My guess is they they froze their nuts off...even Marie.

I, however, can take it...I just hope my 7D or lenses can take it....I want to shoot something for Betrayalfest.

It's really not that bad. Just got to dress for it.

Vancouver doesn't really get "Canada cold" just a lot of rain, which really sucks, I'd take snow any day of the week over rain. A solid month of rain, really blows, which we just had basically all of November.

I used to work at a gas station in high school and can remember working a few -45 -50 degree days outside pumping gas. That poo pooing sucked, you really had like 5 layers of clothes on and could only be outside for about 5 minutes at a time. That was poo pooing cold.

A cold in the cold....

Yeah this cold snap is really annoying. Today wasn't so bad, only -20 with windchill. But last night I had to wait for the bus for 30 minutes and it was -40 with windchill!!! Man I was afraid of getting frostbite. Thank god for layers.

Guess us Canadians are just a tough breed. ;) :D

BTW, us Canadians use Celsius temperature... in case you're wondering. Cause I have no frigging clue what 90 or 50 degrees is in Celsius and too lazy to search for a converter. :) Though I think around -40 both scales meet.

It is cold at times but no colder than say, New York or Boston I think. At least here in southern Ontario. Luckily it approaches slowly and lets you adapt somewhat. Anything under -17Celcius sucks pretty bad. Not including wind chill. Even 30 Farenheight sucked the first couple days, but slowly, you accpet the inneviatble and prepare for it, haha. But the scenery can be nice sometimes and the weather does make for some interesting memories.

Tobagganing, sleigh riding, snowmobiling, hunting maybe, ice fishing, driving down the back roads, ect.

Get a grip...my bothers and sisters... we will all be whining in June and July about the bitching heat and .. for those playing the home game in Winnipeg.. the F16 size mosquitoes.
S_it it is Canada... cold sometimes...Good water and air..alll the time.
