Can you adapt all the same lenses to a GH1?

If the image circle is large enough to cover a 7d/T2i, then it can be used on a GH1 with the proper adapter.

Even some c-mount lenses meant for 16mm and tv cameras can be used on the gh1. It's an easily adaptable format for a number of lenses. If you look through the lens/hardware section within the gh1 threads you'll see numerous people experimenting with different lenses.

The hyper-short flange focal distance of the GH1 (and all micro 4/3 cameras) means that you can adapt pretty much any lens type to it, through the use of the appropriate adapter. But the reverse is not true. So you can adapt Canon lenses to work on a GH1, but you can't adapt a GH1 lens to work on the Canon. Anything that could be mounted on a Canon, can also be mounted on a GH1 (because you can, of course, use a Canon->m43 adapter). However, as of this moment, there's no electronic adapter for allowing autofocus or electronic iris control of adapted Canon or Nikon lenses.

Thanks Barry. I'm down to the final "decision making" moments.. just trying to get all my facts straight before I click "buy" on one of these things.

What's your budget? That might help you figure things out a bit more. Gh1 is going super cheap right now and the extra money could be put towards more lenses or accessories.

Have you tried either in person? Definitely helps to hold them in your hand before buying.

In the end I bought both though, so go figure.
