Hi All;

Sorry for the stupid question.

I am now thinking of slowing transiting from SD to HD.
Aware that A1 is able to record in SD mode too.
Could i still use normal mini dv instead of the HD mini dv instead when recording in SD mode?

Would it create problems to e camera. Have anyone tried?

Yes, but stick with one type of tape. I had to used a different brand tape recently and I ran into a lot of problems when capturing.

Hi HILO. Another forum member from Singapore!

I have the A1, and didn't even open the HDV tape that came with it. I am still using tapes from my box of Panasonic PQ miniDV tapes that I bought earlier, and so far have not had any problems.

Not sure whats going on with Pana tapes here, but the high quality version is almost impossible to find lately. Talking about the MQ equivalent. Im going to have to switch. Sony HDV tapes are everywhere, guess thats where Ill go.

You could try Expandore for the MQ tapes (link below). You'll need to check with them if they have stock and how much the shipping cost would be. Since they are a local company for me, I know a few of the staff and find them very reliable. (I bought my Canon A1 from them.)

i've been sticking to the red Maxell tapes for the longest time, no problems again. I might get a dropped frame or two from an entire tape but no biggie, shoot more than one take anyways.
