I just bought a HVX recently and need help with a workflow, I have a upgraded IBookG4 with ImovieHD( preaty lame I know). First question I have a Mac but is PC better? Which should I choose? What software should I have?

What editing software should I get? I have used FCP alot but am not sold on it for my HVX. Whats the best for cheap, exepensive, PC or Mac?

Soon I will be healping with my first feature film http://www.anthemfilmco.com/redtiderising.html
and am wondering if any user's can share what they have used for feature films.

Also if Barry Green could give me some info (If he has time)while I wait for his book, that would be awesome. Thank you all for you time and thought.

Sincerely,
Coalin.

Most HVX users are using FCP. I think most any PC editor has better P2 integration though, especially EDIUS and Premiere Pro CS3. SpeedEdit even has better integration. A lot of the appeal of FCP probably lies in the whole concept of the suite of applications; in that context CS3 would probably look pretty appealing too.

Thank you alot Barry for real.

Again if you have time what would I need in a PC(ram, aplications, ect) to have a good thing going? And is it true that FCP is the only editing software to allow direct capture? I plan on purchasing stuff soon as production starts later in the month to all who are interested in seeing a film shot on the HVX. http://www.anthemfilmco.com/main.html

Thank you all and Barry.

You might be able to use imovie with raylight for mac??? If its just plain cutting why not. You could try the demo and see if it works.... The ibook might not have enough processing power....If you switch to pc you can make yourself a decent quad core machine for quiet cheap. The q6600 is cheap nowdays.

Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 or EDIUS Broadcast 4.5 or NewTek SpeedEdit. Check out the minimum specs on each publisher's site.

And is it true that FCP is the only editing software to allow direct capture?
Of course not. EDIUS does it, Avid does it, and Adobe includes an app (OnLocation) that is the best capture tool out there, way better than any NLE's capture tool. I'm not sure if SpeedEdit does it.
