Can somebody please explain to me the difference

I don't disagree with soundxplorer a bit. I love my DVX100 and I plan on buying another when I can find one at the right price. What I'm saying is, buying one for $2300 (or even $2k) with the market trend the way it is now, is, in my opinion, a bad investment. So may people will be making the move to HD cams in the next year that DVX100 prices will continue to fall.
Obsolete may not be the right word. Cause it will still produce good images for SD. A SERIOUS drop in it's resale value means obsolete as a financial investment, not as a piece of equipment that records standard definition video.

HD won't be necessary for more than a few years atleast.

Besides, it's gonna take awhile for people to upgrade their TV's to HD.
