Can Premiere CS5 use luts?

I disagree. It does matter.
This is a forum where more than the OP are going to read the replies and get value from the advice given. It's too bad if someone doesn't like it when they don't get the precise answer they expected. Is he paying for this advice? No. So skimming through some replies he doesn't want to hear is the small price he pays for having fellow professionals take valuable time to try to help. Whether he finds value in the advice to upgrade his software or not is irrelavent because OTHER people may read the advice and realize how foolish it is to hang on to software that is 8 years out of date. There very fact that he started this thread proves the point.

I repeat my question . . . how is he able to edit 4K XAVC-I in Premiere CS5? If the answer is that he has to transcode, then it just further illustrates what a dumb business decision it is to hold onto old software. But maybe that is not the case, maybe he has some method of editing native 4K XAVC in CS5. If that is the case then I'd very much like to learn about it.

No, it doesn't -- he has a question about the software he is using, and others may have the same question.

I'm saying, as a moderator, drop it and just tend to the question he asked. Anything about how he should be on newer software is NOT helpful.

This solution is available, I think, from the end of '14. And you can go back even to CS4.

I don't see anything wrong with staying on CS5. As I remember it, it was the most stable release with the most advanced playback engine at that time.

CS5 is not outdated by any mean, as long as you are using it for the purpose that it was made for: editing.

Now, getting back to worries of 'social awareness': paying advice, taking time, fellow professionals, value in advice, how foolish is it, out of date and proving the point.

If you are using Premiere for anything else then editing (coloring, finishing, etc, even for audio...), I have to inform you that the newest iteration of CC is still 20 years behind in all areas except editing.
Doing anything else then editing in Premiere is wasting money, if time is money in your equation.

Tool is tool and don't be fooled that you can use it for wrong purpose - just because it's new.
Or that your skill will magically improve - just because it's new.

Finally a moderator stepped in to end this madness. As of late every time I posted a technical question I had to justify myself to people who were just there to tell me how "unprofessional" I was while they would not give any useful advice. This has to stop. To those who stuck to the subject I will thank you for telling me about Lut Buddy. I never used it. That may solve the problem. As fors CS5... yes... it is ergonomically and stability wise the best Premiere version ever released. So if I can stick with it using plug ins... I will.
