Can I use USB to update the firmware?

I put a 128 MB Sony SD card into the HVX and it does not seem to recognize. It only seems to make my carera's menu system to slow down to a crawl. Yes, I have it in all the way and it is inserted properly.

First I tried to format the card. I selected MCR mode then Operation > Format > but then it does not allow me to select "SD CARD" All 3 selections are whited out so I cannot select them. I can only select "exit".

So I downloaed the formatting software and formatted the SD card on my computer. I put it into my HVX, select "Operation" on the menu and then there is no option for "update".

Another thing. The file I download off the zip file with the firmware off Panasonic site and after I unzip it there is only a an IMG file in there. There is no folder named "Private" Like the install manual says.

Get a cheap 64 GB sandisk and use it.

You have to format it in the cam.

If your card won't format it, get a different one.

It sounds like formatting the card in your computer worked, and you are simply not putting the file in the right place.

The ZIP file does contain a single file with a .IMG extension (the base name will vary based on the firmware version), and the file is stored complete with the path it should be extracted to on the SD card. If your ZIP utility is not configured to extract the file to the original location, then the camera won't see it, and you can't perform the upgrade. In that case, create the folder structure yourself and put the .IMG file in it:

\PRIVATE\MEIGROUP\PAVCN\SBG\P2SD\FW

I installed the new firware and works fine, the only problem I have is that I cannot get the HVX to connect to my PC via USB. I downloaded the latest P2 drivers but when it come to install the USB driver it doesn't recognise that the camera is actually connceted! Am I doing something wrong! or maybe need a special king of usb cable?
