Hey I smell a new market here for all the rich folk "Why settle for a cheap eighty dollar web cam when you could have the ultimate DVX web cam" I can see all the millionairs with DVX's glued to the tops of their monitors. "Can you see me ok ma...Yes it is a super wide view isn't it ma?"

lol, I use my DVX strictly for shooting projects, nothing alse.

i tried it out of curiousity last night, and yeah, it works, doesnt look anywhere as good as what it actually shoots, but it works.

Hey... i just hung my DVX in a tree in the yard, I'm gonna use it as a security cam. I figure why should I go and buy security camera when I already have a DVX. :)

Kbar, Where I work, I talk to at least 5 to 10 people a day, that have some random part on their camera stop working, due to defects, power surges, or just usage.

I think what everyone here is trying to tell you is that, if your DVX goes, it's like 200 to 4000 to fix and if bad enough replace...if your 99 dollar Logitech webcam goes...buy a new one...So you don't put unneeded stress or usage on your DVX.

i have no problem with that logic- someone else said something close to that earlier- it was when people were saying that just because its fancy it shouldnt be used for somehting thats not fancy that was bothering me.

but i do understand your point and i agree.. though i didnt think that the usage that people talk about was just from the camera being on but actually recording to the dvtape- or maybe lugging it around and that kind of wear and tear.

Yeh kbar...In the end it's your camera to do as you please. I'm still using mine as my deck to capture :( and when all's said and done a little web cam work can't be any worse than that eh. I,m just yanking your chain ;) I was wondering though wether the image in a web cam app would come off any better using firewire as opposed to just using the composite out? Let me know how it turns out.
