Since no one else said anything, I'm going to caution you against any ebay purchases for lenses as a general rule. Every competent optics person I know says the same thing.

If you are spending any considerable amount of money on lenses you want some kind of reputable optics person inspecting your glass or offering you a decent warranty. Duclos, Abel Cine and our company, Hot Rod Cameras, all perform this service.

I don't purchase cine lens sight unseen on ebay because I know too many people who have been (sometimes unknowingly) ripped-off on their expensive lens purchase. Many times the seller had no idea what they were actually selling when they claimed "good" or "working" condition, sometimes they did. Without the proper equipment and training you will not know how how the lenses was designed to perform, and how it is actually performing.

If you are committed to the ebay/sight unseen route there are some warning signs to look out for. You are welcome to call our office and ask for me and I'll give you the basic 'PL lenses 101', and point you on the right direction so at least you make an informed decision on what will undoubtedly end up a major purchase. We do this for people all the time, even for those who have no intention or desire of purchasing anything from us. I consider it public service, and I'm doing my part to try to prevent anyone else from getting burned.

They are too long for this post, but if you have time and are curious, remind me to tell you about the $5,000 "null" lens, or the "Foton 35-140mm" story, both are particularly tragic tales of wasted money.

Forget about lenses, I am worried about buying anything from ebay. Abuse of lenses means alignment could have gone wrong or worse fungus would have eaten up the lens coating. I know of people who clean up the fungus and immediately sell the lens to unsuspecting buyers. Ethics is not the strong point of every cameraman.

ebay is good for buying garbage things, such as cable ties. lol

I dont buy used stuff on any platform. even reputable local stores sometimes sell you bad things and refuse for refund.

you dont know how bad the previous owner Fxxxed that lense. Seriously. just like used cars.
