hey guys....i;m looking for a good udma Card reader that supports firewire 400/800 and can be used on Mac and pc (to be used with my PC and laptop...but occasionally for my friend's macbook). Any suggestions?

I just use the cheapo Kingston card read ($14) and it works well for both SanDisk and Kingston. It's not firewire (USB), but it's plenty fast, or at least about 5x as fast as downloading it from the camera. I mean... $14. You can't go wrong.

I use the SanDisk card reader mentioned above. Much faster using firewire than any USB 2 readers. Until a USB 3 reader or eSATA reader comes out this is the shyte.

We use the Lexar readers at work, but they almost always fail after a few months. I don't understand what the deal is with them, but we've yet to have one make it past the 6 month mark (though they do get pretty heavy usage, I guess...)

SanDisk readers are great, the only problem you might have with them is the build quality. The plastic shell can come apart if it takes a tumble from the edge of a table, if a light stand falls on it, or it drops between the wooden planks on a pier.
