HD NORM, SD NORM, HIGH, LOW, B PRESS? If I tape outdoor activity, when the sunlight is strong AND the object is a little dark compare to the bright background, should I do the following?

1). Set shutter speed to something such as 1/120 to 1/500,
2). Use no ND filter
3). Use LOW in gamma function in order to supress contrast.
4). Adjust Master PED to something such as +15-20
5). Make sure the IRIS is bigger than F3.4
6). Then do all the routine work and shoot.

Earlier, I posted my footage, I was not happy with the details when I check it on my HDTV. I was asking what kind GAMMA adjustment I should use.

The gamma function gives you some choices as to how the brightness is rendered in the final image. It's not normally for expanding the dynamic range, which seems to be what you're after, unless you use the cinelike-D.

The new HMC150 book is probably about a month away from being available, and it'll explain in detail with pictures.

Normally if you're outdoors with strong sunlight, you want to:
1) set the shutter to 1/48 to 1/60
2) use ND1/64
3) use Cinelike-D to expand the contrast
4) use a mild master pedestal, maybe 0 to -6
5) use whatever iris is appropriate for delivering the proper exposure
