Good evening A1/G1 users. disjecta made a good point in another thread along the lines of forum support by Canon. Our numbers in this forum are growing daily. SO to that end I used the US website to send a request. If every member were to jump on board and also issue a request for someone from Canon to frequent here it would be very useful to us all.

If you want to help - follow the link below and send a request for a Canon rep to join this forum. Please make sure you mention youre a user at DVXuser.com in your post, and would be great if you could also reply to this thread and say you sent a request so others may be inspired to do so.

Heres the link - in my request I left the top section at default - Have a sales rep contact me.

Understand that the reality is that Canon doesn't even participate at dvinfo.net, which is very Canon friendly. They monitor the boards but they don't want to get down and dirty with the users unfortunately. It seems to be a corporate policy.

Point is well taken Barlow but precedents can always be and have been changed. Inaction is a guarantee of status quo so let's just give it a shot.

Point well taken in return. I would love to see it happen but I'm not holding my breath. I'll do a request too.

I just requested that they consider representation in this forum and indicated the growing user base that we seen here in this forum.

Let's hope for the best.

I know that the moderator of dvinfo has a very good relationship with Canon.

All companies make a mistake not seeing boards like this as an invaluable tool from which they can learn what their users are looking for.

They seem in my experience more attentive to what they hear at trade shows (like NAB for instance). Maybe they monitor discussion groups, but they don't want to invest in participarting and answering questions.

Here's the response I received:

Thank you for your inquiry. We value you as a Canon customer and
appreciate the opportunity to assist you. We appreciate your interest
in the XH-A1 camcorder.

Your comments regarding this User Forum for the XH-A1 camcorder have
been noted and will be passed along to the appropriate party.

Thank you for taking the time to write.

We hope this information is helpful to you. Please let us know if we
can be of any further assistance with your XH-A1.

Thank you for choosing Canon.

I once knew a girl named Omega I tried and failed to be her Alpha. I wonder, could she be working for Canon?

I e-mailed the request yesterday and within an hour I received a call form a woman sales rep in the broadcast division. I explined I had contacted them because of a growoing user base that is expanding into the A1 and G! because of the price/performance ratio even if HDV is a transitional format. She offered me a sales job for Canon seriously, we talked for about 20 min.

Anyway she explained the A1 and G1 are not handled by the broadcast division and referred my to a Scott Smith in NY. She gave me a 516 area code number to call and I left voice mail. As today I have not heard back. Lets see if he is the one or I get shifted again.

I will follow in the AM.
