1DC: Camera Won’t Turn On! Bricked?

So I purchased a Canon 1DC brand new from Canon in 2016. I have had zero issues with this camera. Today I was filming a wedding and the ceremony was 30 minutes long. At the 19 minute mark the camera displayed the temperature icon on the right side of the screen. This has happened before and normally the camera will shut off.
The camera did not shut off and the ceremony finished at the 30 minute mark. Which means I ran the camera for about 11 minutes with the temperature icon on the right Side of the screen. I turn the camera off and let it cool down for two hours. Then I returned to use the camera for some shots of the reception tables there was zero issues. I slept the mirror down but left the camera on standby and when I came back 30 minutes later the bottom rare LCD screen had a few numbers and it was displaying the ISO on the top LCD but I could not get the camera to respond. I tried removing the card in the battery for a few hours and nothing.

I tried putting in my spare battery which is fully charged and I can see that the viewfinder darkens when the battery is removed however it brightens up when the battery is inserted just like my 1DX mk2.

When I put a dead battery into the 1DC it will flash on the top LCD to let me know the battery is dead. When I put a fresh battery and nothing happens. None of the LCDs work and the red light on the back of the camera below the card tray which usually illuminates when a batteries put in does not illuminate.

Anyone ever had this experience? What do you guys think is wrong with it? I also use my Canon 5D Mark 4 for live streaming. I use the HDMI out 2X ternal capture card but I set it up so the LCD screen is off and I’m not recording internally on the camera I also only do this indoors where it’s cool. I am kind of worried this might happen to the 5D4.

Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

If it never turns on again, it's the chips/boards and you'll have to see if Canon can service it.

I wouldn't be worried about the 5D Mark IV based on how you use it.

Corey, I thought that the 1DC had a power switch issue that was common, It was like $500 issue back in the day. Have you checked with Canon?

Yea I will check with canon. Good to hear on the 5d4 tho. I know that it definitely is easier on the camera to output via hdmi then to record internally.

Sorry to read about your camera.

I had a similar thing happen to my 1DC a few years ago. I was filming an all-day event and on the break turned my 1DC off. When I went to turn it on again, I saw a small blip in the screen and then it went dead. I changed to a new battery and the same thing happened.

I took it to a local Canon service centre and they told me it was the board on the camera which needed replaced. It cost me £850. Ouch! I was told by them that this wasn't a common problem so if what they say is true, I reckon like me, you've just been unlucky.
I've been using my repaired 1DC for a couple of years now, so far without any problems.

I think you'd be exceptionally unlucky for the same thing to happen to your Canon 5D mark 4
