Camera to plasma in HD?

Is there a way to output from HVX200 to a HD plasma monitor and see the footage in HD? Unless I'm missing something the camera only has an RCA video output which I assume carries the pictures downconverted to SD analogue. The picture on the plasma certainly doesn't look like the 720p I shot!

No, the camera also has composite output, which will send out the HD signal, but you'll need to find the cable that came with the camera as it uses a special connector and not the RCA jacks like it does for composite out.

You can.... if you get a HDI to HDMI converter from AJA http://www.aja.com/products/converters/converters-hd-hi53g.php (or you can rent it), or a Black Magic card or you can do a cheat I did, which was connecting a Mac Book Pro to a Plasma via the Mini display port, and use the plasma as a second monitor. Then, either you can watch your footage you shot full screen through quicktime (but that's may be not what you want), or you can try to live view it in FCP connecting your camera through firewire... (that have not done either...)...

hope that helps....

What a clown I am. I've had this camera for 2 years and had never found the compartment above the xlr jacks before. It was like discovering a secret panel in an old mansion!! So problem solved and I can now preview my HD stuff with pretty decent clarity on the HD plasma via component. Thanks everyone, CASE CLOSED!!
