C300: Camera Theft - C300 and C100s

You wouldn't consider relocating?

As it turns out, I've done a lot of work with law enforcement and my ex was a producer on Gangland Empire, so we learned a lot about how crime works.
Every single person who enters your home must be looked at as someone who is casing your house. They may not even be doing so with malice, they may just mention over a card game, "Hey, I just unclogged the sinks at this guy's house. You should have seen his camera collection..." As such, every person who enters my home receives a nice tip on the way out, just to reinforce the feeling of good will.

One rule I learned, if you don't want your house robbed, don't keep anything of value inside. Seems obvious, but you may want to consider moving your cameras off-site.

Lastly, I think home security is a good idea, place ADT stickers on every window, get cameras, Ring doorbells, keep a cheap car in the drive way when you're away from home, leave lights on, never post vacation photos on social media when you're away from home, have your neighbor collect your mail, etc, etc...

There are times when production asks me to bring exceedingly expensive equipment home with me and I have to protest, it's just not worth the risk.

Eric- Consider that in addition to advertising that you have cameras to steal you've now advertised that you also have firearms and ammo to steal. And in the process foolishly provided information as to what sort of locks you do or do not have on a door to your home. Something I can only assume never even occurred to you at all or else you would not have constructed the image as to include your front door. Wise up. By your own admission you've already had weapons you own fall into the hands of bad people who used the weapons to commit crime and terrorize a neighborhood.

You had to have known that, given these times and the current controversy over AK-style weapons, some would find the image objectionable. And when some in fact did find it in poor taste, what was your response? Your response was to wish that they become targets of crime: "anyone who wishes to criticize such purchases should get their house burglarized". What was gained by posting the image? If someone did not believe that you bought an AK, why do you care? What do you have to prove to them? I have a suspicion that R&G wasn't actually doubting you but instead trying to provide you with an out. But you didn't recognize it. Just as you didn't recognize that Tom's statement about too many Amiras was sarcastic editorial on the number of firearms you own.

Furthermore, is an image of high-powered weaponry posed alongside cameras an image you want representing Two Sense Films? The only content in that post other than the image of the weaponry is a link to the website for Two Sense Films. In that it reads like an ad for Two Sense Films. Granted, it is unlikely that the image will be seen outside of this forum. But it is possible. Is it an image you want your church-media clients, or any clients, associating with yourself and with Two Sense Films? Are you wanting to become known as the gun-nut DP? Are you wanting people to fear you? Are you wanting people to be impressed by your "bling" that includes high-powered, military-style assault weapons?

What happened to our sweet boy from Franciscan University of Steubenvlle that he's now boastfully sharing images of his high-power weaponry online like a gang-banger?

what a ridiculous photo to post.

Sorry you've had such a rough time, Eric. And I'm stunned about the reaction in this thread.

I've never voted for a republican Presidential candidate (yet), and I've never fired a gun. But good god, what nonsense you people spout.

Let me get this straight: other people (crazy or evil) have used other guns to kill people, and therefore Eric posting images of his guns (which he purchased for a logical and reasonable reason) hurts your feelings? How infantile has our society become?

I feel for Eric, I hope it never happens to anyone else on this thread and I really hope he manages to get his valuable equipment back.
but who said anything about feelings being hurt? It's just a really dumb, immature thing to post.

Everyone who is hurt by the fact that he posted images of, let alone actually purchased, rifles.

This thread is venturing into territory that should be moderated.

"smh" at the poor judgement being practiced here.

Do we really need images of your assault weapons presented as a joke? Are you kidding me?

Way over the line.

I thought your comedy was great...I think your proud display of cameras and guns just the opposite.

Mitch's statement was made prior to Eric posting the image of his firearms posed with his cameras.

Hurt? Not at all. In fact, I'm already shopping for a Christmas present for Mr.Coughlin that might be to his liking-

I take pride in what I've worked hard for. It's not like my mom bought me my cameras.

But really the cameras holding guns is obviously a joke, originally inspired by Run&Gun's skepticism of me buying guns, such that I figured a photo of the cameras with the guns would prove otherwise since people sometimes have difficulty distinguishing between my jokes and serious posts. Two of the rifles in the photo are airsoft guns. I've already posted photos of my camera collection before which is more extensive than the above photo, so the point as said was moreso to show that I wasn't joking about buying guns, but then I decided to pose them in a joking way, because, well, I like jokes. There's also a pun caption in there which goes, "My cameras shoot well."

And anyone who wishes to criticize such purchases should get their house burglarized and have reason to believe thieves could come back while you're home, as they did come back when I was home, and then get back to me with that criticism.

Eric,
You have reached a point where we no longer know if you are joking or serious. I am a guy who often jokes with my friends. However, there are certain NO GO areas as far as jokes are concerned. And wishing someone burglary is bad Karma. I hope that you don't mean bad to people. In life at times there are situations when the more we struggle the more deeper we sink. Accepting a mistake and moving ahead is often the best strategy as one doesn't need to keep on defending a tricky/indefensible situation. Great men often apologise for any faux pas and move ahead where as Little men with inflated egos get stuck.

There will always be some who will proudly proclaim their right to self-defense and right to have assault rifles etc. Quickly this thread is getting into the US political debate of republican vs democrat and gun lobby POVs etc. Lets try to avoid such debates. Please focus your energies on filming for a bright tomorrow. We feel good looking at your progress. Lets stick to filming and avoid the negative stuff.

Cheers,
Sabyasachi

Can i remind you guys that this is an international forum and although Americas gun obsession is amusing to watch, many of us don't understand it at all.
there is crime all around the world and most of us don't seem to feel the need to arm our self's to the teeth .
death by firearm numbers seems to reflect this.

To each there own i guess?

Eric's posts seem to be made to amuse like most of his posts and i don't suspect that there was any intent to offend anyone on this forum, i wasn't although i personally loath the existence of guns .

Thanks for the thought. When I stab an intruder to death, after he's killed my partner, I'll post a picture of my knife collection...should be ok because I'll try to make it "nuanced". And then tell the forum that I'm proud of the fruits of my hard work.

Maybe it's a culture thing, but posts like these just seem nutty.

I didn't have time to comb through every post in this thread but my two cents are wifi security cameras that record the min they detect motion. The Amazon Cloud cam is a cheap and efficient model for this. I've heard great things about the SimpliSafe security system for homes. I have a friend that lives in a bad area of Chicago and she swears by it. August smart locks are good as well. They can notify you if the lock breaks or gets opened. Smart Home equipment really is the cats PJs sometimes. So sorry this happened to you man, I hope you were able to find some resolution in this.
