I tend to leave the strap on my DSLR's because I'm a little clumsy... But it's obviously a pain in the @$$ to take it on and off the camera when going between my shoulder rig, slider etc... But if I'm doing some gorilla handheld stuff I like it because it makes me feel more secure lol. Question is... does anyone use the damn thing? I feel like I need to get over it and just toss it in my junk drawer... or figure out a quick release option because I personally feel it's getting in the way more than it's helping. Just trying to get anyone else's opinion...
I too find the camera strap necessary from time to time. It actually makes for a pretty good stabiliser when out and about. You just hold the camera taut against the strap with the strap around your neck. And yes, using it when in a rig is not a good idea, as it's just in the way.
I first went with some carabiners and some keyrings for a quick release system, which actually worked well, but then I realised that the keyrings alone are fine. The keyrings go on the strap ends, and it only takes a second to loop these over the metal strap mounts on the camera.
