Camera Bag

Hey guys, I tried searching for this as I'm sure it's been addressed before but the search function seems not to be working for me right now...? I'm getting the 7D with the kit lens and need a bag for it - I don't plan on getting any other lenses in the short term so it doesn't need to be some crazy huge bag with tons of pouches - although places for compact flash cards/readers/cables etc. would be good - what's something you recommend (looking to stay under $150).

Thanks,
Mark.

Look in the electronics section at Wal-Mart. They have some decent, inexpensive bags for SLR cameras. The kind of bag that you want wouldn't cost more than $60-70 on the high end and could be had for as little as $20 (for a CaseLogic at Wal-Mart). I really doubt that the $20 option is junk, but you'll have to see for yourself.

If you want to spend, Tamrack makes really nice stuff. You can get bags that hold your camera, few lenses, laptop, anything.

Hmm...didn't realize there were cheap bags (I'm used to buying pelican cases for my vid. cams!) -- I should also ask if the two linked to earlier are waterproof? That is a MUST for me in my bag...and also it seems that these bags store the camera with the lens still attached is that right? I'm new to DSLRS and thought you stored the body and lens separately? Is that not the case? What about for long term storage in between projects where it just lives in my closet for a month or two?

Waterproof? I wouldn't count on that. It does claim to be water resistant though. I have always left the lens on my D90. Is there a reason to remove the lens for storage?

I LOVE THIS BAG

I'm a bag whore (with a closet full of bags to prove it), and I won't buy anything but Think Tank for my photo gear. They were founded by photographers, and their products are designed by working photogs. Their stuff comes in all shapes and sizes, and I can't recommend it highly enough.

Hard to argue with $36.

Anyone have an opinion on the Nat Geo bags?

They look pretty in that 'I've just stepped off the savana now I'm in town for some beers' kinda way, but are they any good?

http://www.amazon.com/Tamrac-3385-Access-Laptop-Backpack/dp/B001L5U16G someone mentioned Tamrac and I'm thinking of getting one of these. I've had one of their small cases for my canon 790 p&s and even though it's extremely simple I love the quality and material. If you read down the reviews you can see what someone put in the bag and it's about what I'm looking to go with.

There is some water sealing on the bag I linked, but probably not enough for someone who's going to be in a real wet area.

Edit: here's the full Tamrac lineup http://www.tamrac.com/g_aeros.htm

Kata is bulletproof. I have the R-102 backpack
http://www.amazon.com/Kata-R-102-Rucksack-Cameras-Camcorders/dp/B0001W7TXI

and also the W-92 waist pack
http://www.amazon.com/Bogen-KT-W-92-Kata-Waist/dp/B0001W7TY2

independently they are great bags. i actually attached them as seen in this image for a photo+Video shoot I did in rural Honduras.

They aren't exactly inconspicuous bags for international travel, but they can certainly take a beating

I used my Tamrac Pro 8 for international travel before I got the Kata. I would still use it but I misplaced most of my padded inserts! http://www.tamrac.com/5608.htm

Does anyone know of a good 17" laptop + DSLR with multiple lenses bag?

How are the zippers on that Canon? And what about the Velcro? Is it easy to re-configure, open and close fast? Maybe I can bring two bags, though that is exactly what I didn't want to have to do.
