Camcorders with Automatic Clock Setting

What would be a great feature to have in a camcorder, and I don't think any manufacturer has done it yet, would be an internal clock that automatically is set without the need for manual calibration.

There have been "atomic" wristwatches available for several years that automatically synchronize to "the official time" via a signal transmitted from Fort Collins, CO.

I would love to see that technology incorporated into a camcorder. Not only would it permit more precise time setting and convenience, but it would also be helpful for the purpose of editing camera footage from multiple camera shoots if the cameras had synchronized date and time metadata.

There are some camcorders on the market now with GPS - Sony's latest has it I think. And P2 of course has full supports for GPS metadata; with GPS receivers in the higher end models.

I wonder if those GPS enabled camcorders can auto-set their clocks from the GPS signal?

I did wonder the same thing, just as cell phones clocks are auto-set. If anyone has one of those camcorders with GPS metadata, perhaps they can address this. I would appreciate it.

Yes the Sony's with GPS set the clock. That's the main feature for me on my XR500. Last year I only had the SR11 for a trip to Australia and got the clock wrong on several occasions. Now shows bright sunlight in a shot that says it was taken at 2:15 am !!!!
