Cage One

I really like the cage design that RED's been showing, especially the cageone thing. BUT I think it would be just plain stupid, if a cage comes out without a place to mount support rods. I see that in the 3 handle cage, but I can't see it in cage one. Well, it would be really a bummer, to have to put the camera on a cage and still have to mount it up on a bridgeplate. I hope this gets addressed before the final design is locked.

CAGE-ONE was designed and prototyped in two days. It is missing rod support but it will be there before we are done. We had to scramble a lot before NAB to get stuff done to show. "In development" are the key words...

Got it! Just trying to give you guys some feedback. Afterall, that's the reason you showed us what you have so far, right? :)

Designed and prototyped in two days? Perhaps we saw more than we needed too. I think it's great to be involved in the process, but I would hate to have things made up for the sake of showing them off instead of rolling them out because they reached a point in their evolution where they needed feedback. I know you are all running a plan here. And I am confident that proper design and execution will be put into the camera. I also know that you have an incredibly long journey ahead of you. I think the fact that you went to so much trouble to show something at NAB is nice, but the fact is that a lot of people show what they are working on for next year.. The problem is that once NAB is over they all crawl into a black hole not to be heard from again until a release date, which is hidden until it's almost out. This can be very frustrating..

If you have not already had this idea, I would suggest a timeline on your site of major goals in the process and then show a graphic like a bar that moves along, passing each goal as it's completed. Or a monthly report of progress.. That would make it a lot of fun for all those who believe so heavily in this product.. Kind of like how the creation of most feature films can be followed on the internet nowadays.
