CAGE for Panna GH2

I need a cage for my new GH2. It needs to take 15mm rails for follow focus unit and matte box and access to all areas of the camera ex. battery access. Any suggestions?

ReWo's would be ideal... but damn the price.. I use CPM Film Tool's Cubed (modified for GH2 and other LCD screen flip outs)

May I ask what exactly is the function of a DSLR cage?

To protect the camera and take the stress from mounting large lenses, matte-boxes, LCD monitors, lights, microphones, etc... instead of trying to mount these items directly to the camera body.

The ReWo cage is machined from one piece of aircraft grade aluminum, so it is both very light and very strong. It also has 2 "rosettes" on either side to mount grip handles.

Not really classified as a cage but does the job too.
Gonna test it when I go to their office in Korea:

The Trusmt cage has a HDMI clamp but the cage was originally designed for Canon 5d. Does anyone know if the HDMI position is the same on the 5d and gh2 cameras?

Don't laugh, but since I didn't need rods for follow-focus, I made mysef a $70 version of the Frugal Filmmaker's 'Stabilizer Kit', which I find works well for run-and-gun and also as a frame to attach gear to when it's on a tripod.

The dimensions and parts needed for the basic frame are here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZtlSVgG1h8. I cut the vertical tubes slightly short to fit the GH2 better, and replaced his camera mount with a t-joint on the bottom bar sandwiched between an adapter plate for my Manfrotto tripod head (on the bottom) that screws up into a quick-release assembly on the top. I added a couple of cold-shoes, rubber handles, and painted the frame with Krylon paint.

PVC pipe (1/2") and connectors $3
Sliding adapter plate $18 http://www.calumetphoto.com/eng/product/calumet_sliding_adapter_plate/ck9001
Quick-Release assembly $23 http://www.calumetphoto.com/eng/product/calumet_quick_release_assembly_with_plate/ck7010
Smith-Victor flash shoes $12 http://www.adorama.com/SVSHOE.html
Rubber handlebar grips $7 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000QFOOUQ
Krylon Fusion paint for plastics $10 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000GONZC0

It's very "modular" - you can add or subtract fittings by swapping out t-joints and cold shoes as and when you need them. In fact if necessary the whole rig can be broken down to its components to carry in luggage.

Hi all! :Drogar-Happy(DBG):

I recently purchased a Shrigg Rigg from the guys at Indi System, and it's all good apart from the quite major fact that I can't access the audio input to get my wonderful Juiced Link audio into the camera.
There is a large hole in the side of the rigg to place cold shoe or alike which (if you take a razor blade to it to make it thinner) you can put the cable through, however as you can see from the picture included - puts the camera off axis. I also don't like the
fact that any pressure to the camera could then break my GH2 audio input.

The Shrigg Rigg is a great product but wow - what a flaw!!! It's just not neat enough to substitute my absolutely gorgeous Juiced Link audio to use it. :undecided

What do we think - has anybody else had this issue?..........View attachment 40298

I responded to your duplicate post about this but here it is again: just use a 90 degree cable and/or adapter. That hole is not meant to be inline with the audio jack at all and we definitelty do not recommend passing a cable through it.

Just read this- I am interested. Can't find it at Indisystems.com though... How do you guys like it? Is the price still $99,- for the cage only?
