Why aren't the newer 3d stereo movies not called 3d stereo movies .
For Instance :

Avatar 3d or Avatar in 3d .Why not Avatar in 3d stereo or Avatar 3DS.
It's confusing ...you got people asking if The Incredibles "really " was 3d or not and every other 3d animated movie.
or does 3d stereo sound to eighties or seventies even ?

Because when nine out of ten moviegoers hear 'stereo' they think stereophonic, not stereoptical. Although what's really going on is a form of binocular fusion.

Never market above the sophistication level of your audience.
 
A geometric point (with no dimension to it) projected along a single axis forms a line, with a single dimension (length). A line projected at right angles to itself creates a square, with two dimensions (length and width). A square projected at right angles to itself forms a cube with three dimensions (length, width, and depth).

Those are geometric or spatial dimensions. Additionally, real objects exist with time as the fourth dimension (because, as HG Wells put it, can an 'instantaneous' object, that is, an object with no measurable duration in time, exist? Of course not...)
