C100: Cable to extend grip?

I'm trying to figure out a cheap extension cord to relocate the grip when it's on a jib. I saw on the B&H videos about the camera that any 4 position 1/8 (3.5mm) cable would do, so I bought this cheap $8 cable: Amazon
Unfortunately the camera would only respond to some functions, not all.

Can anyone recommend a cable to extend the grip on my C100 with full functionality? There must be something cheap that would work fine...

Did anyone ever find a source for one? I'm in the same boat for jib mounting but I also have an older shoulder rig that I might use for the c100, too. if I could relocate the grip for substantially less than the $500+ from zacuto...

I don't think the cable could run very long as the signal would attenuate, much like a non-powered USB cable.

Maybe you can try WFT-E6, it works with C300/500

This may sound stupid and elementary, but did you double check that the cable was plugged in all-the-way/tightly on all ends? When I first got my C300 and I had pulled the grip off and then put it back on, some of the grip functions wouldn't work. I cycled the power and battery a few times and it still wasn't working properly, as before. I started to think something was broken. I pulled the grip again and reseated the cable, making sure it was in and tight. I actually gave it(and still do now) about a 1/4 turn back and forth to make sure it seated all the way and I haven't had a problem since. I do it with the Canon grip and the Arri relocator, too.

The jack on the grip has 5 conductors - looks like a regular 4 pole 3.5mm jack, but with an outer ring/sleeve like that on an RCA plug.

Let us know if you find one.

Ben.

I have a guy who does my electrical repairs. A real geek. He could probably do it but would need some tech info from Canon and/or Zacuto to make the cable. I believe that's what he does mainly at work. But first, did you try Zacuto? They may do special orders.

Otherwise write me at:
