I am trying to use this portable DVD player as an external production monitor. This is how I connected the two units. I have the OSD camera settings to the "on" position, but I get no image on the Portable DVD screen. However, the screen saver image from the DVD player displays on the camera when the camera is in VCR mode. Am I using the wrong connection cable?
 
There are no physical input switches, and the menu only offers these options in the Display Setup:

- TV Aspect Ratio
- Still Mode (Auto, field, or frame)
- Screen Messages (on/off)

I am wondering if I need to use what appears to be a 4 pin outlet located above that s-video ones that I am currently connected to.
 
Judging from pages 9 and 32 of the manual (here) It seems that the L760/L765 (which I think is what your model is) DVD player doesn't support video input - it's just a DVD player. :(
