well im a big fan since the c500 came out , i have bought it for a while now but never used it much , due to the pl mount and when i used it couple tme it was only on hd , till the last month when i purchase my shogun and went to making a short film , i was very disappointed of the result
i have been watching on the net the tests and comparison and really i loved the c500 what does in the low light , but when i did exactly what they said didnt like it much , is it me who set the camera wrong or it suppose to do this , or its the shogun
i remember i saw the test of the video where they showed the c500 cranck the iso to 3200 and still useablbe not in my case i pit my iso in 2000 even 1600 and showed to much noise and was on c log film
please look at the grabs 2 of each one is from the mxf hd and the other is from the shogun 4k they both flat no lut added

thank you

im trying to put the image in full quality but it get compressed so i guess i have to do it externally

This looks significantly under exposed. Did you meter the light to set your exposure? That method is still very valid. Where was this image falling on the waveform?

The camera is great with low light but no a "no light" camera.

As others have said your images are very underexposed.

They key to good images from the C500 is getting exposure and white balance right.

You should use metering of some kind to get the proper exposure. This is not the fault of the camera.
Those shots will never be able to be corrected either. If you brought them up in post the noise will just cover the image. Not enough information was recorded. Underexposed.

I suggest keep the waveform continuously displayed on your LCD monitor. That will immediately tell you that your exposure is wrong. Push up the ISO and add some light. Your lights need not be top notch ones but you have to use something to get your exposure right. IF some day in future cameras become 100 bits and not 8 or 10 bits then you will have more data in the shadows. Now there is very little data in the shadows so simply can't get it back up in post. This is true for all cameras including A7S. Expose well and it is Gold.
