C500: C500 & Odyssey7Q for WY-DOT Drunk Driving PSA

Hi all... did a fun summer project for the Wyoming Governor's Counsel on Impaired Driving using the C500 and the Odyssey7Q recording Canon 4K raw.

While I love the FS-700 Odyssey combo, sometimes I think the C500/Odyssey match-up doesn't get enough attention in the forums. I chose the C500 for
the small form-factor, helpful with the car mounts, and the higher quality on-board proxies.



I used the Sigma 18-25 and the Rokinon 14 and 85mm for all work.





A second Odyssey was fed from the first and served as client monitor.



All told everything worked well... we had a day that started with sustained 45 mile/hour winds which complicated the "bullet-time" work no-end, but the nice 4K
frames made the many VFX shots come together quicker.

That was an intense PSA - gets the point across very frankly! Nice job, I particularly enjoyed the interior car setup, and the bullet time looked great. I noticed you using the Long Valley Seven Jib - I have one myself and love it! Such a versatile piece of kit.

BTW - what's the hood/cover you're using on the O7Q there?

Thank you... the client was in love with a NZ speeding spot featuring the same basic theme... so this is a micro-budget version of that, tuned to drunk driving.

I agree, the Seven Jib is terrific.. very quick to set up and get shooting with. I pair it with the K-Pod tripod for a very stable combo.

The sun hood is my own design from last year, which I never had the time to take out of the prototype stage. Fortunately, I had cast up a few of them for personal use.
In that noon sun, it was the saving grace for the AC and the client, as you can put your face right into it, blocking out everything. Molded of soft 5lb density expanded urethane
foam with a urethane rubber skin, it also provides a great deal of physical and elemental (drizzle/dust) protection for the Odyssey SSD slots.
