C300: C500 mk2 / C300 mk3 grip cable

Hi,
I've got a kitted C300 mk3 ordered and am very much looking forward to getting started with it next week.

So I'm trying to prepare what I can, ahead of that. On part of that is the equipment needed for a better grip setup.

Does anyone know what cable can be used to extend the grip cable? I see Shape sell one, which is 75-ish. But to me - just by looking at pictures and trying to cobble together information - it looks like either a 3- or 4-conductor 3.5mm? Could I not just get an extension for that, from a mobile or hardware store, and be good to go? I know the contact in the grip itself is different, but this is about extending rather than replacing it.

Thanks!

No idea on your extension question but I've had the Shape coiled handgrip cable for the C200 for a few years and it's been very good, rock solid, reliable.
Highly recommended.

I use the following cable for my C500 MkII and it’s worked perfectly. It’s essentially what (I think) Puredrifting is talking about but for the C500 MkII / C300 MkIII.

One thing I would note is, make sure you have it seated all the way down. Unlike headphone extension cables, these cables have a much tighter connection; which is good because they don’t pull apart easily. I think the first time I used the cable I only pushed it until I hit a little resistance (like headphones) and the grip wasn’t working but when I looked at the connection I could see I still had a small gap between the connectors. So with a little more pressure I heard that *click* and all was good.

Hope this helps. I’ve really ended up using this extension more than I even thought I would for various rigging so it’s very useful.

That appears to be the same cable I've been using the past couple of years, not sure if they changed the polarity or something on the newest cams but that will work.

im 90% sure we used the shape one on both the c200 and c500.

I also got one for the c500 from zacuto for about 40$ i think. just had to email their customer service.
