GH4 C4K 24fps and 4K 23.98 pros and cons?

Given the C4K @ 24fps and 4K @23.976 fps options: I like the thought of downscaling to 2048X1080 from the C4K: what are the disadvantages of 24fps workflow Vs the NTSC 24 fps (23.98) ? I plan on keeping all viewing options open including
DCP.
Cheers

In a modern workflow, there's not really a disadvantage to using true 24P. You do need to make sure that every component in your chain can deal with true 24P, though. (It's not uncommon for a tool to say it's 24fps, when it's really 23.98 or vice versa.) Otherwise it may not work at all or you may get noticeable timing problems on longer pieces.

I've been working at true 24 fps for a few months now with the Moon trial 7 hack on the GH2.

The only real 'disadvantage' is that you can't mix 24 and 23.976, so if there's more than one camera, they both need to be the same. And not many can do 24, most only do 23.976.

Here's some of my minimal personal experience:

C4K 4096 is wider - less crop so that changes the look of my lens - usually better, and the TVs I played back on had no problem. 24p or 23.98 played back on the TVs okay, but my little HD monitor does not monitor at 24p, only 30 or 23.98. I was unable to upload 4096 to Youtube for some reason (maybe my ignorance)

UHD 3840 little more Crop - can be helpful sometimes, plays back on monitor just fine, offers 30p (29.9) that gives you a pinch smoother slo-mo staying in 4k, uploads to Youtube no prob (again, it might be me), is more standard other than movie theater projection.

Another little math puzzle for me, is if I shoot in C4k and scale that back to UHD I am taking advantage of another 256 pixels of width that I DON'T have in UHD - so (here's my math part) when I crop aspect to 2.40:1, I am also getting a couple more rows of pixels vertically, that I DON'T have sticking with UHD. Yeah, it is very minimal, but every tiny bit only helps.

Not really. Assuming standard 1080p delivery, to get that aspect ratio the active image area will be 1920 x 800 pixels. The resolution of the original doesn't matter, the deliverable is 1920 x 800.

I'm delivering UHD 4K, though. My 2.40:1 crop on 4096 is 1707, at UHD 3840 it is 1600. So, I feel (and could be wrong about this) that scaling 107 extra lines of detail down to 1600 or 800 is better than not having them. Is my math goofy?

OK, I misread your original post. I thought you meant that the deliverable would end up with more lines of resolution when shooting at C4K vs UHD.
