C300: C300 mkii - EF to PL?

I have the EF mount C300 mkii but was wondering is there an adapter that I can use on PL lens to work with c300 mkii?

There are adapters to put PL lenses on EF mounts, but the lenses that can be used are pretty limited. It’s not a “universal” solution. If you had a specific lens or lenses and it/they’d work, sure, it’s an option. But every time I’ve wanted to do it, the PL lenses I’ve wanted to use with an adapter aren’t compatible.

I can’t remember where I found it, but I found info on the adapters and what dimensions of PL mounts work with them and don’t. The biggest issue is the length of the rear of the PL mount.

You can have the mount replaced with a PL mount, but it isn't cheap.

A mount change is needed really. This is what you need:

Depends on the mix of lenses he is using. If all or most of his glass is PL, then change the camera mount. But if most of his glass if EF and he only has one or two PL mount lenses that are used occasionally, then that doesn't make sense.

Looking at my situation, for example, even if the original C300 offered and easy EF/PL mount swap, it wouldn't make sense, because all but one of my lenses are EF and my one "PL" lens, I had a swappable mount installed on it.

Considering what Angenuix is doing with their primes which have user changeable mounts, every cine lens manufacturer should be offering that.

I've been saying that for years. I would like to see all lenses with user swappable mounts and cameras likewise. And not involving tools, either. I always reference the F55/F5 as the standard with it's FZ native/base mount. It's a 1/4 or 1/3 turn to lock/unlock the other mounts you put on. I'm not saying "everything should be FZ", I'm saying that's how they should work.

Does the LPL mount work differently in this regard than the FZ mount? If I understand it correctly the LPL makes it easy to change to PL or EF, as in it could be done in a few seconds without tools, but I'm not very clear on how either work since I haven't used either FZ or LPL.

If you’re talking about using LPL as a “base mount”(attaching adapters directly like you would a lens), then really only for lenses like PL and deeper, because even though it’s shallower than PL, it’s still 44mm, which is the same as EF, so there’s no room for the adapter (would change the flange depth). If you’re just referring to the LPL mount itself being quick change and just popping off the camera, I think it’s attached with screws like most of the other mounts.

If you were designing cameras and lenses solely for maximum adaptability & compatibility, you’d design the lens with a really long flange distance and the camera with a really short one.

I used to work in a rental shop and swapped the EF and PL mounts on our C300 MK IIs almost weekly. It is fairly easy to do on that camera, so I would recommend getting the Wooden Camera PL mount kit as mentioned earlier in this thread.

Unfortunately, it is not an easy task on the C200. I originally ordered mine with the PL mount but upon my first attempt to swap it out, I was met with a ribbon cable connecting the EF pogo board. I had Canon swap the mount back to EF (for a cost) and haven't messed with the PL mount since. I also don't have access to any PL glass anymore so my needs changed.
