C300: C300 mkii - Atomos Shogun Inferno

Anyone using the Atomos Shogun Inferno with their c300 Mkii?

I like the idea that the Monitor records giving you an extra safety on footage - recording on both the 2 x CF card and Monitor. Also like that it can record RAW if I need it and correct me if I'm wrong it will also give me the visual that matches what I see on the Camera LCD monitor.

Is this a good monitor to get? The biggest point for me is that it mirror the image to my LCD so I know if I'm over exposure etc.........

I have it. I rarely use it since I don't find it more useful than than the onboard monitor for viewing footage. If I need a second monitor, it is almost always a full size client or directors monitor. The shogun sucks up power, but it is noticeably brighter. The image on the Shogun does not really match the camera monitor if you are used to trying to expose by the camera monitor.

If I do use the monitor, it is almost always for recording purposes. I would get a different monitor if you just need something for viewing. Something lighter and larger.

Hopefully you judge exposure using the tools the camera has, waveform monitor and zebras? On board monitors are notoriously inaccurate.
I would never trust an on camera monitor other than for framing and possibly focus if it's large enough.

I have an OSEE 17 inch monitor and an Atomos Sumo, but I almost never use the Sumo for the same reasons as the Shogun. Additionally, the colors are off on the Atomos.

I have admit that my primary run and gun monitor is the Lilliput A12. It's junk, but it does what I need it to do. I regularly shoot multicamera and the A12 is very light and allows me to display up to four cameras side by side. The main problem is that it doesn't seem to like the 29.97p that the Canon puts out.
