C300 MkI/II storage options?

Hi everyone,

I still use the C300 MkII, and MkI cameras. One thing I never really chased down was good options for protection and storage. I do not fly with these cameras. I would like to see what recommendations other owners have for hard case/camera somewhat broken down, and... if possible a 'quick draw' option - camera completely built, soft case, and set up so that the camera can be pulled, ENG style, turned on and used immediately. For shoulder or for tripod.

You're reading a post from someone that cut his teeth with ENG cameras (early 90's), and my brain never really did make the full adaptation to building up rigs with rods, those friction clamps, etc. See? I am still not sure what to call the components!

I may have some follow up questions about which way people went in their efforts to get the whole camera built to go up on the shoulder. But that's another post....
 
This is one of the last places you'll find some of us old timers and anything about cameras on shoulders so ask quickly...because the new generation is asking how you're perfectly balancing it on a gimbal!

Jason cases are for the OCD yet happy to waste space crowd. I've interacted with Jason cases and would personally never buy simply because dedicated slots for things like batteries are IMO a pretty inefficient way to store things. There's no arguing how neatly they organise everything though and they make a visual inspection pretty easy e.g. if all of the slots are filled you haven't left anything behind.

Mycasebuilder might have your equipment in its library, it's been a while since I looked at it but they're like Jason cases with more custom options.

My favourite hard cases are still the pelican storm versions with padded dividers. The trekpak dividers took the world by storm, even becoming a permanent part of the pelican system but I prefer the soft padded dividers for the slight lack of rigidity.

Soft cases

I'd search B&H for a case you like, the easiest way will be by interior lenght/width/height. Exclude Porta Brace when filtering if you want to look at other brands because they have 300+ options. This has to be one of the strangest offerings from B&H!

I can usually have my c200 fs7 fully build in an 84l really useful box with some foam sheets on the bottom an sides.

the sort of foam sheet that came with a light or a soda stream packaging.

somtimes I will break the body off the rig and put that in a small lowe pro/ tamac bag that i got for $25 from a used store.
 
While not a perfect C300 solution, I ended up with multiple Adorama brand Slinger big bag XLs.

It's cheap, mostly grab-n-go for a pre-built C300 (though with the monitor unit on top of the top grip, it's a tight fit and for storage or rough house gigs I take off the monitor maybe leave the cables attached) The orange makes it easy to see stuff inside and it's sturdy with reinforced sides--not as solid as a pelican case but those end up weighing more than the gear inside once you get one big enough for a pre-built C300 IMO.

It appears back-ordered at the moment (I had picked two more up on their eBay site used and replaced the wheels)
