C300: C300 MKI DPAF Verification Question

Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know of a way to verify if a C300 MKI has gotten (or shipped with) the DPAF upgrade?

I have access to one with DPAF for sure with latest firmware 2.1.9.1 and another that I assume doesn't have DPAF upgrade and is on fw 1.1.8.1 and won't recognize/install 2.1.9.1

With DPAF - one should see the white target box center of screen, right?

I'm trying to assist someone who has a C300 MKI (we think it's DPAF) to work in continuous AF w/ 24-105 and 50 lenses. I think it might just need a firmware update to see the lenses as continuous focus.

Thanks in advance. I did search the forums but maybe my search terms lead me off the path.

If continuous AF is greyed out in the menu with a AF lens attached then it does not have the AF upgrade. And yes the white target box in the center of the screen is another indicator.

Thank you for replies. I wonder if it's possible the wrong firmware was installed, but guessing that's not really possible. Do we know if the DPAF factory upgrade would put the camera at 2.x.x.00? I contacted Canon too and will post my findings.

Thanks all.
Jeff

Thanks Dustin and everyone else too. Yes this seems to be the answer, DPAF-upgraded models start with a Firmware revision # 2.x.x.xx. I also checked with Canon support--who were fast and easy to work with I must say!!--and they said:

"Thank you for your reply, that would be correct since any camera with the DPAF upgrade will start with firmware version 2.x.x.x.xx.

Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.
Sincerely,
Mario"

Hope that helps anyone still running these great cameras.

Thanks!
