C300: C300 Mk II CML Latitude Test

6.5 stops under exposure is impressive, that 6.5 stops under! And it's holding up to 5+ stops of over exposure. What's most prominent though is how it clips, much more like alexa/dragon than c300. It ''glooms'' and gives that creamy over-exposure, something I always hated on the c300/c100. He says raw so curious if he shot xfavc or raw out to get this performance.

I do see chroma noise though. The overal noise amount is very low even at 6 under but the noise itself has lots of chromaticty

Geoff Boyle shot internal XFAvc and RAW to Odyssey 7Q, also transcoded to ProRes 444 in the 7Q. Not sure what these grabs are from. He said that the cheap LED lights introduced some color on the chart, that the footage graded easily, not a fight like some cameras. He really seems to like the Mark II, at least this pre-production unit.

I agree about the highlight roll off. This is an area that the C300-1 needed improvement. When I first saw the C300 prior to purchase, I was struck by how much more refined it looked vs. Sony FS700. Noise in the latter was large and coarse, edges on hot windows had artifacts and looked videoish. F5, 55, FS7 are much better, but I prefer Canon flesh tones and the Mark 2 should offer a more sophisticated image with much more tonality than a Mark 1.

This caught my eye, are you saying his Odyssey was able to debayer the RAW feed and wrap it in a 444(4?) file inside of the Odyssey? Last firmware I had was only able to do 4K RAW to 422. Interested if this is something possibly coming down the pipe...

As a side note to this, I saw Geoff Boyle mention the other day that the camera is easily doing 15 stops and that the advertised stops seems well within the cameras ability - or something along those lines.

Canon always given a 100% accurate DR rating. Never more. I believe them when they say 15 stops.

Panasonic is also the same, trust-able, if they say varicam35 is 14 stops, dvx200 is 12 stops, that's true.

Sony, Red, Blackmagic, Aja, let's not go there on how many times they exaggerated DR numbers.
