Hi everyone,

Anybody using the old c300 studio base plate from zacuto with the new c300 mark ii? Is it compatible and anything I should know?

Thank you

Sure it's compatible. Basically the same as using it with a C300 Mark I.

Scratch that. Just realized you're talking about the Studio Baseplate, not the VCT plate I just posted photos of. But I'm leaving those photos up since they're cool. :)

Anyway...see this topic: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?348313-Baseplate-for-C300

I just bought the studio baseplate and returned it because the rails couldn't get tight enough. Piece of junk. Zacuto discontinued it and I'm guessing that's one reason why they did.

I've decided to buy the Wooden Camera Unified Baseplate for the C300.

I have the studio baseplate for my mk1, served me pretty well for a number of years. I've used it on my mk2 a few times to simplify my rig.

All depends on how you like to setup the camera. My gripes with that baseplate are, I had 4 different sized sets of rods depending on the lens I was using. And I couldn't use any accessory that relied on gripping to a single rod because they would spin inside the plate.

I upgraded to the same zacuto vct setup from Eric's pictures, which is great, but obviously adds some bulk to the camera. The built in shoulder pad is a game changer.

Yes, I have the Zacuto studio baseplate and the knob system sucks, no rods will stay in place, I tried many different... Really bad design with rods spinning no matter what..., heavy and you have to add a piece between the 2 rods to make them, stop spinning..., I don't understand how those plates even left their factory like this. I have trouble putting mine for sale used online because of this issue, it feels and looks like a defective piece but this is how they are designed. Zacuto had no problem with it... From this and after talking with them ( they have a a very nice support though), this could be my last zacuto purchase.

jm.gardiner (or anybody), do you have pictures with the c300 mark ii on the studio baseplate? I modified mine a little with knobs for the port on the side, so I don't need an allen key every time. I am wondering if the c300 markii will still sit properly on the plate though.

Thank you both for the feedback

(Eric, are you French?)

Your name sounded French to me and I usually see the name Eric with a "k" in the US ;)

^Gee, I know about 7 or 8 associates spelled ERIC

Cool! Oh well... was just curious.

Back to the c300 markii and the zacuto studio plate, I would really like to see pictures of them setup together. I would really appreciate if somebody that has the 2 can post a few pictures to see how the camera sits on the plate. Thank you!
