C300: C300 for 5Diii

So, just recently I've just been reconsidering things.
I love the C300. Its an amazing camera. But there are somethings that are bugging me.

The cost of this camera (as I'm paying monthly for it) is one big pain. Its expensive.
The other is the size and weight. Not that its a really bad thing, but for some accessories/gear I want to use, it reaches the max load capacity and I cannot use it.
For example, a handheld stabilized system.

So, I've just had the thought of downgrading the C300 to the 5Diii with magic lantern.
Most of my stuff is now being featured on YouTube/Vimeo. So, there isnt much of a difference from what I can tell.

The few biggest issues I can see myself coming to is:
1) No xlr/audio
2) Post work when shooting raw
3) No ND filters (possibly the biggest hassle)
4) Might need to upgrade CF cards to faster ones?

Another reason I am considering doing that is because I dont have a DSLR anymore. My T2i is really crapping out on me. All the knobs are getting stuck and the buttons are being a pain. So, if I cant fix it, then I pretty much dont have a DSLR for photos. Id like to get sell and get better lenses too.

What are your thoughts?

I'd second (third?) the C100 recommendation. A DSLR will drive you mad now you're used to something with NDs, XLR in and continuous record. If you don't need broadcast quality then the c100 is your best bet and not *that* much more than a 5D iii. And it's a bit lighter than the C300 - I didn't have to change any gear when I moved from a 5D to it. And you can use some of the spare cash from selling the c300 for a t2i.

And you can use dirt cheap SD cards too.

On the other hand, go for the 5DIII if you prefer the "I shot this through a plastic shopping bag" look.

Ben.

OT, but Adorama & B&H have Lexar 600x 32 GB cards for $17.95 each. $1 less each at Adorama if you buy 3 or more.

They test just a bit slower than the Sandisk 80 MB/s in a Canon T4i. The best were the Sandisk 95 MB/s, but those are about double the price, so ...

In order: Sandisk 80 MB/s, Lexar 600x, PNY Elite Performance 90 MB/s ($20 at Amazon.)

i can trade my C100 with with Dual Pixel CMOS AF and 24-105mm f/4L Lens combo for your C300 PLUS some "L" lens choice . :) ( i have couple lenses for you to choose from). :)

Oh...and if you need dslr for still photography, i can add the Canon 70D too. :)

If you're the producer and there isn't a specific demand for the C300 like there is on TV shoots, then you should look at the C100. Everything you love about the C300 without the cost. As others have already pointed out, going to a DSLR will drive you nuts. You won't get that look that you're used to with the C300/100 and the workarounds for the basic features of the C cams will be twice as tedious as they seemed before.
