C300: c300 conforming to 60fps

Hello,

Having an issue shooting and eventually translating our c300 footage that was shot in 59fps to slow motion footage.
We are bringing the footage into FCP7, and footage that was 59.97 comes out as 29.97, no longer able to become the slow motion we wanted.
I can't change the frame rate for import in FCP and the Canon XF utility does not allow for exporting of MOVs.

Anyone have a solution for this?
I could export a MXF from the Canon XF utility, bring it into VLC and then make it an MOV, then bring it into Cinema Tools and conform it, but am looking to just bring it in in FCP and then go right to Cinema Tools.

Thanks a lot!
Suzanne

If you didn't shoot it in slow motion in camera, and are using FCP 7, conforming the clip in Cinema Tools is likely your only option as far as I know. In future, it might be better if you shoot your slow motion material using the C300's overcrank feature. It will slow down the high frame rate footage to your desired output framerate in camera, and you won't have this issue.

You could always export the MOV from FCP7 and take that through Cinema Tools rather than going through XF Utility and VLC first. But if it's importing into the FCP7 media browser as 30p, then it was never shot at 60p to begin with.

Are you certain that you didn't shoot the slow motion in camera? If so, the footage is already conformed from 60p into slow motion 30p.

Thanks for the reply, Brian.

When I open the files that were shot in 60fps in the Canon XF, the metadata does display that it was shot at that frame rate. The trouble is when I import it using Final Cut's log and transfer.. The footage comes out as 29.97 without slowing it down. Not sure how to work around this. May have to go in and use the slow motion feature on the C300 from now on, but I feel that there must be a way around it.

Is there a setting in the Capture Settings that I could be missing that lets the Log and Transfer import the footage at its native frame rate?
