C100: C100mkii + Rigwheels Cloud Mount + Triumph Motorcycle

I take it you’re a fan of the cloud mount then?

For what it is it's a really cool tool. It's not a russian arm or a miracle worker, but it's also not hanging out of a window or filming out the back of trunk and putting your life in unnecessary danger. I've only had need to use it a handful of times, but when I do it adds so much production value. I'm actually using it on Monday to film a race car on a track that we have rented out, so I'm hoping to get some rad stuff then.

I posted some BTS photos and videos from the above motorcycle shoot on my instagram if you want to check those out.

Here's a couple other BTS photos from other time's I've used it:

Do you use DPAF with this? Do you monitor with an iPad or your phone? Does the C100 MKII allow for wireless monitoring? Shots themselves look great but the grade looks pretty washed out and funky (not a in a good way) on my iMac here? WDR or C-Log? Did you do any cc or grading?

Shot this like 2 years ago so going off of memory....

Shot everything in DPAF with the Canon 10-18 lens. 90% of the time the right thing was in focus. Guessing WideDR & had fun with a heavy grade in post. Monitored with SmallHD in car, ran HDMI cable from camera to front seat where operator monitored and controlled Ronin-M via DJI remote controller.

Cool man. Thanks for the info. Mount seems to work pretty well. With the C200, this would be a lot easier now, using an iPad to monitor and control is pretty cool, I've done it for a couple of jib arm shots.

Oh man great job !!!
c100mk2 footage looks great , it is so organic , so much filmic , like footage from 80th . Nice grading with little added noise .
Could you share more details what kind of mount is it for ronin ?

Thanks for sharing! I'm curious, which way did you prefer the mount with the Ronin? Normal orientation or upside down?

It really depends on the angle desired. In my experience the shots looked more dynamic when the camera was in normal orientation just a few inches from the pavement, but depending on the subject and the shot you want, that won't always be the best option. The biggest limitation to using this rig is that you're kind of stuck with wherever you can place it on your vehicle. If you had something like a Sprinter van that is boxy and has flat surfaces everywhere then you could really put the rig in a lot of places, however I own a Honda Pilot (rounded curves everywhere) and a Honda Fit Sport (just a few flat spots on the body) so I'm very limited as to where I can safely place this rig.

It is the $1799 configuration of the Rigwheel CloudMount w/ the additional Ronin adapter plate: http://www.rigwheels.com/product/cloud-mount-camera-vibration-isolator-system/
