C100: C100 With External 4k recorder

Does anyone think down the road they will give the Mark II and firmware update with external 4k to like a shogun? I am thinking and have heard that the c300 Mark II will have internal 4k which will be a crazy camera. What do you guys think or do you think they will wait until the Mark III or a new body. Canon is a bit like Apple and take their time with cameras and do not play the spec game, but its something to think about if your wondering about getting a c100 Mark II or Fs7.

Any thoughts...

My guess is no version of the c100 will ever see 4k, since canon's game is to limit the hardware on their lower-end lines so they don't cannibalize their higher-end lines. I could be wrong, but that's my guess.

No, never ever, not even if you said, "pretty pretty please with sugar on top". You've probably got a better chance of getting 4K out of an old TK-76 than Canon giving you 4K out of a C100 mkII.

LOL.. thats what I was thinking. I think I am going to wait it out and see what happens with the C300 MarkII. I dont need the 4k now but I just bought a C100 like three months ago and realized this will work until canon comes to their senses...lol

THere is a non-zero chance that will happen. I mean, it's probably technically possible, since I believe the sensor size is 3840x2160 or there abouts. But I doubt they will do it.

The C100 mkII with 4k will be out shortly. It will be called the C300 mkII.

C100, C300 and C500 are the same camera. You can get it with more or less features at a higher or lower price.

Don't count on it. The C100 mk II is and always will be a beautiful 1080p camera. If you "need" 4K (outputting for 4K TV or need to crop in post) then this is not for you. The FS7 is a better option. The soon-to-be-released C300 mk II will do 4K too so wait for that a little while.

It's a shame but after all the complaining they came out with a version of the camera that fixed everything we complained about in the beginning. The gh4 is a great 4k option until we see where the market settles and the c100 Mark II and Gh4 is a great combo. Just wish I would not have bought mine just three months ago, had no clue they were going to update. I will say I think the C100 is the best 1080p camera on the market :)

I am just spit balling here but do you guys think the C300 with have internal 4k or yall think they are going to leave that for the c500?

What I've learned about buying cameras is no matter when you buy, there's always going to be something "better" announced in a couple months. Just get the best you can afford to get the job done right now, you'll never have a future proof camera.

Yes we seem to agree the C100 mk II will not be 4K, that's why I said don't count on it. We also agree the C300 mk II will be 4K, and it's coming soon.

Jason: yes I strongly believe the C300 mk II will have 4k internal. It's a complete must now in the competetion. If they cheapen out on something they will make it 8bit, but I expect a 10bit 4:2:2 4K codec. They can't cheapen on 4K now. You can also count on 120p at 1080p.

So if they saddle the C300 MKII with good quality 4K internally, what could differentiate the C500 MKII from the C300 MKII? Maybe 6K capability or something to compete more with REDs, etc.?

I don't see them jumping to 6k yet, based on track history...Canon will stay on the conservative side...even though they very well could do it.

I would be surprised if they gave it 4K capabilities without internal 4K recording options, especially now.
