C100: C100 used in this Subaru commercial

My son is in the film union here in New Mexico, and did a little time in film school at the community college. He ran into a guy here in town who shot the below Subaru commercial and told him he used the C100, and it's his favorite camera. My son told him my Dad just got one of those too! The guy told my son if he learned how to use the C100 he would hire him on his next shoot. Pretty cool! The C100 comes through again.

My son asked if I wanted to rent out the C100 because he could find some people in the industry here who would rent it, but I declined...... I feel kinda weird about renting it out.

Cool commercial. Where in New Mexico are you? I live in Albuquerque. I'm a big fan of the c100 myself, I just picked up mark ii and really loving it.

Congratulations on your new C100 MKII, it seems you are amongst the few who have received one! I'm up here in Santa Fe. Perhaps we talked on a different forum once.

I think my next camera will either be a new C100 mkII or a used mkI.

I have some clients flying in on Monday for a week long shoot, and I'm freaking out about trying to match up the C100 with the 5D3. Last time I used the 5D3 with my little ole HV40 and it actually matched up surprisingly well.

Very nice work but...I'd have to see some behind the scenes photos to believe it's a C100. My reasoning is, from my experience with agencies, is that for that level of budget on the car shots they would have gone with a more expensive/advanced camera. Are there any stills of the shoot?

Thanks

I can't imagine the C100 being used for a lot of those shots. That doesn't mean it wasn't used for some of the shots used but I find it hard to believe they used a C100 especially the driving shots that are slo mo or that they trusted running monitors etc via HDMI as it doesn't have SDI outs. Who knows.

Thats some really slow motion based on how fast that car is going, unless they did a work around that might not be a c100. I have this camera and use it almost every other day for our company and if thats the case then please pass this guys info on so I can ask him. I cant get any slow mo from my c100. ITs a very heavily graded image tho so who knows.

The video on YouTube is 720p, so the 1080i60 from the camera could have been used as a starting point without losing too much resolution.

My first thought was the slow motion issue as well, but that's what my son said. Maybe the C100 was used in only some shots...... now I'm very curious and will find out more info.

It's not C100 footage. At least not 90-95% of the material. There are a few shots inside the race car and some footage inside a development facility that could have been C100 footage. I'm sure what was referenced was that "I used a C100 on a commercial I did". The rest is obviously a very high end camera. You also dont get hired on a shoot of this nature because you learn how to use a C100. But, hey, good luck with that.
