C100: C100>Ninja2 recorded 24p camera feed at 29.97

So, two day shoot, I was not there for day 2 and camera op didn't set Ninja to 24p, I have never done this before so not sure exactly what to do- I do know that the HDMI from C100 is always coming across as 60i and the Ninja settings interpret and apply pulldown when 24p is selected in Ninja, and when I simply drag this 29.97 footage into my 24p timeline and make it match sequence settings it plays and the audio is correct, but it does not look 100% correct- it does not have interlace lines but it gets some weird artifacts around movement and fine details and definitely does not look as good as my 24p Ninja footage recorded day before. When I try to interperet footage and guess pulldown to 24p the audio gets screwed (I know how to fix this) but it still doesn't look right....any suggestions?

Thanks

Use Apple Compressor to remove the pulldown. I have done this many times and it works well. I will post more details if you are able to implement compressor in your workflow.

Thanks Nate-I am a PC/Premiere CS6 guy, handing off to editor who is on Apple/ FCPX, maybe they know how to do this if not will send you a PM.

You can user after effects to remove the 3:2 pulldown also. I had the same exact issue happen to me a few weeks ago and this works. However, if you are on a PC you will not be able to render the output movie back to ProRes to give to your Mac editor. I exported mine as a very high bitrate h.264 (300mbit stream) and didn't notice any real loss, however I didn't have to push the grade all that far either.

If you are interested in trying this let me know and I'll walk you through. Mine was 2 very long clips.....if yours is a lot of short ones, this might be a painful method.

Yes- I am interested in your process for After Effects- I tried it with little success so any help would be appreciated, and h.264 is probably fine here too.

Here is the compressor setting if it helps. You'll need to unzip the attached file, then place the "29.97i to 23.98p.setting" file into User/Library/Application Support/Compressor/Settings

When in the Finder, you'll need to hold the option key and click the "Go" menubar item in order to see the hidden user library.
