C100: C100 mk1 for live streaming?

Is it possible to use the C100 mk1 for a live stream of an event? How would one go about this? Keep in mind that the budget is minimal, so a simple solution of C100 -> computer -> web stream is something we are looking for. 720p is fine, don't need FHD.

I used it as an upgrade to our usual C920 1080P webcam for livestreams on our YouTube channel. Captured the HDMI feed via an Avermedia LGP LITE and streamed 1080P 8000 Kbps to YouTube using OBS without issue. Obviously it's off a bit of an angle shot wise, but it was more a test case than anything else, huge step up obviously from a webcam.

The C100 is a video/audio source, like anything else. If your streaming setup lets you input HDMI, then you're good to go with one cheap cord. You can also convert the HDMI to another cable, like HD-SDI, if you need that. You can even buy a converter box that will turn your C100's HDMI output into a normal webcam USB connection. I'd figure out your other hardware and software first, and then you'll know how to use the C100.

I did a live stream a couple of weeks ago with a C300 (SDI) and C100 (HDMI) (both MK1s), and another guy brought a panasonic video camera and a sony A7:

The C300 looked absolutely fantastic, the C100 looked great, the panasonic looked below average grainy and the A7 was a PITA (totally the wrong camera for this)

(BTW they had SDI inputs so for the C100 we used a HDMI>SDI converter)

...BUT... the limiting factor is the bandwidth, not the C100... by the time it gets up and through Youtube (or whatever) and down to the user it looks total crap.

If the venue can give you a hard wired ethernet high speed internet connection then you might get half decent quality.

Hi Matt, long time since you wrote this post, I know, but maybe you can help me out. I'm planning on a live-stream shoot using a Canon C100 and I'd like to know if you remember what device was used to connect the cameras using SDI to the computer.

Thanks!
