C100: C100 Mark II Custom WB Issues

https://vimeo.com/79559472
Is anyone can explain me this behavior ? It is look terrible , completely not acceptable . How do you manage to dial WB ?

My C100 mk I was acting the same.
in fact I think the behaviour of the camera is perfectly normal because the auto WB will adjust temperature AND tint as well which of course manual mode won't do

the problem is actually coming from the users who doesn't know how to use the gear and who don't understand that automatic white balance and will automatically correct green and magenta all the time

you just have to check your light source, at the very first step, and change it or correct it when needed.

The camera will see reality as it is, which is why we buy expensives ones. Then if they want good automatic correction they can just buy a handicam.

OK thanks ,I have fs100 and I never use auto WB set , always dial only with kelvin and never have any issue with tint . So I understand with c100 I will have to not only dial with kelvin but also go to preset and dial something else ?

No you didn't understand me ;) for the C100, as for you fs100, and for any camera : just dial your kelvin like always.
Problem with the video you posted is that the guy just have a s***y light bulb and thinks the camera will magically made it look good.

I I just got my c100 mkII yesterday and I'm very happy with it. It doesn't look greenish at all. Except when the light is actually green ;)

You can use a Quick WB (look at CP menu) for this light condition (green light from special light sources) if you need correct basic Kelvin WB. There is a "RGB + magenta" color correction and it is very easy to correct these green light sources.

But 5D have ever been behaved like a this?
I think never. NEVER.

Why you need adjust tint in deep menu for just easy WB correction? Can't understand.

Saving light bulbs and fluorescent lamps have green light. If you make WB with kelvins than magenta quick WB solve this.
You can also make a WB with white paper (cold and warm cards), in this case you don't need a quick WB.

This is correct for all cameras (WB with kelvins can't remove green tint from this light sorces).

OK thanks , so there is no any WB isse with c100 just someone who does not know how to proper set WB .
I should more care about proper set WB , I mostly shoot doc and there is no time to play with white paper I set quickly in kelvin and if something is wrong I fix in post later .
So you advise me to use white , grey card , it is essential to get proper WB ?

I always did WB with kelvins, with the right CP (gamma, black levels, sometimes NR) it is relative the best way to get good footages from various scenes for quick post production with small color correction (with gray card you can get more accurate result, but sometimes also wrong result at scenes with more changing light sources). But if you work at scenes with controlled lighting than maybe better to work with white-gray card WB.

Well I haven't used a white card in a while. I've been dialing in Kelvin. And half the time, I'm not happy with my white bal when I review it. Anyone made any progress on the white card issue with the Mark II?
