Hi! I have a question to you guys. Which profile are you using shooting with C100 for weddings and other stuff like these? Im shooting C-Log but u know, 8 bit codec. Sometimes it looks awful after grading.

Im looking nice picture profile, something like Wide DR but with better low-light performence. WDR end in 3200 ISO in my opinion. In every wedding im going higher. 80% of my work are on 4000ISO and above.

Any suggestions? Maybe custom profiles?

Thanks for help!

80% at ISO 4000 or above? How slow are the lenses are you using? Ever thought about primes? I know event coverage can be challenging with primes but working at such high ISOs brings it's own problems too as I am sure you know. As far as non C-log CPs, I use the Abel Cine package and dial in whatever look suits the event. Google them for the link, don't have it handy. I shot night scenes on the set of a TV show in Africa with basically one 4k through a 12x12 silk so the light level at 100' away from key source was really low. Shot with my 28mm and 85mm 1.8 wide open at ISO 1250 and all looked killer. ISO 4000 is not a good way to work, 28 and 85 are a good pair, but you might want to carry two C100s, one with each lens mounted like still photographers do. I may switch to the 17-55 2.8 and the 70-200 2.8 as my BTS pair of lenses with with C300 MKII, it's cleaner at ISO 1600 than the C100.

I shoot Weddings with WDR and grade with Film Convert. Even if I push past 3200 ISO and get some noise, its better than having underexposed footage. Now I light dance floors with 2x Arri 150's and 2x Torch LEDs. Here are two examples:

But you know guys, my kind of work is a little diffrent, not like in rest of world. In Poland we are making long reportages. 90-120min edited footage from wedding is normal so you know, in 4 min wedding trailer a little noise look pretty cool, but not in 60min wedding film edited from two C100s. Im working in a little dark wedding halls in my area. Im shooting in C-Log and grade it, but its a little limited sometimes. I want to shoot with good profile with a little amount of grading, but WDR in 50i is so noisy above 3200 iso. In churches im often goin 8000-10000 iso, in C-Log quality is pretty good. Customers are impressed, noone need 4K there :D

Im using Canon 17-55mm f2.8, 11-20 f2,8, 50mm f1.4 and 35mm f1.8.

If I'm shooting a wedding, and I'm not using C-log, I use Wide Dr for low ISO shooting, and a profile based on Cine 1 for high ISO shooting. Try out Cine 1 gamma and Cine 1 color matrix. Turn sharpness all the way down (-10) and turn on a few notches of noise reduction. Also, check out this excellent post on low noise profiles for the C100 mk1: http://ntown.at/2015/01/08/canon-c100-cpp-noise-test/

And like DannayZay suggested above, you need to figure out how to add some light to your dance floor. The C100 is among the best low light cameras around, but any low light camera, including the a7S, needs some light to create a pleasing image. At a wedding, you can't rely solely on the DJ or band or venue staff to properly light your video. There's a good chance all they'll give you are flickering, over-saturated cheap LEDs or total blackness.

Mb i will change my style of working. When im flying on steadicam im using 11-20mm f2.8 on f4 aputure. In last wedding i had F4 and 4000ISO. I open it to f3.2 and we will see :)

With noise really help an external recorder for intra-frame ProResHQ recording. I have NinjaStar (only 25p/50i 1080) and with NR2-3 it is very nice, much better then AVCHD.

i bringing to the home 8-10hrs of footage (4-5hrs on cam). Recorder isnt good idea. That extra weight and batteries to charge :o

You can record on NinjaStar (about 250g with batery) only lowlight shots, result is realy much better.

I have two versions of WideDr I use. One is the normal one with no changes. The other one I bump up the noise reduction settings on the profile in camera. I use it when the light gets really low and I need to bump up the ISO.

Siema ,for your steadycam you are using very wide lens 11-20 , I do not see point to close your aperture to f4 , why you do not open up to f 2.8 ? I have the same lens and when it comes to first dance I always keep wide open f2.8 . C 100 is crop sensor compare to still ,so DOF is not so shallow .
