C100 HDMI = uncompressed 1080i only?

Looking through the literature this seems to be the case, can someone confirm? that bites if it is true.

page 111 of the manual has HDMI 1080/59.94i, understand it has the flags, but the signal is 1080i and the software, in my case CS6 will read it automatically and make it 23.976. Am I missing something, this is not 24p uncompressed coming out? Or are the original 24 frames there and other frames are added to give you the 60i? I have always had SDI so have never had to deal with or record with flags in 60i footage.

No monitor can play 24 frames...it has to be in a 60i stream for a monitor to show it.

Yeah, guess I never thought about that but that's accurate. The C100 HDMI needs a recorder that do pulldown or you have to do it in post.

(for the record someone just confirmed that with the C100, not just saying random stuff lol)

well i guess thats a deal breaker for me, scarlet outputs a native progresive signal from hdsdi to the shuttle2, someone please correct me if i am wrong

Didn't someone say in another thread that Atomos was working on a firmware update or something to make the C100 compatible with the Ninja 2? What recorders are able to do pulldown with the C100 currently? Any?

Surly, it's only a wrapper. The frames recorded are true progressive, but they are then split apart for delivery in an interlaced stream.

There is no time difference between the two (virtual) "fields".

It's compatibility thing. Upon pulldown or "de-interlace" the native progressive frame is restored with 0 quality loss compared to native progressive recording.

That's right. However I am not sure (anyone feel free to correct) That it's full debayer, I think it's half right? Full Raster, but half debayer, which makes the ProRes pretty not-awesome.

But do feel free to correct me if the 1/2 Debayer is wrong.

No it's full quality, it was confirmed by someone from Red at some point. They said it was different than the software debayer, but not worse.

The ProRes was recorded with a Hyperdeck Shuttle 2 which does not remove pulldown. I had to do it in After Effects and then link the comp into Premiere in order to use it. Very annoying, so if the Ninja 2 does it on the fly, that would be my recommendation, until they update the Shuttle to do it as well.

I just shot with a C100 and a ninja2. I got interlaced footage from it. Disappointed. Maybe there is something more to it, I didn't have much time to play with it.
I'll check it again in two days from now.

When you try again make sure that a) you have the latest firmware installed and b) look for an option concerning 3:2 pulldown. It may need to be turned "on" to do it properly (otherwise, it might interfere if you were intending to shoot 60i).

Will do!:)
