C100: C100 Grip alternative?

It would be really great if there was something *like the C100 grip, but not necessarily a big grip. Would it be possible to make something like this out of radioshack parts?

Imagine, a small little box with the jog wheels and two buttons. That way we could mount a minimal C100 body/lens on a gimbal or other rigs, for quick AF on/off, exposure control, menus, etc.

Something like the Defy throttle, but with C100 control.

I tried connecting some various switches I had laying around, via a stereo cable, and the record on/off sometimes works. So, I wonder if opening up the grip, studying its layout, and copying the connections in a simple little box would be possible.

Thanks for your help!

Huh, I'm surprised nobody has made a simple start/stop remote control like this. Button + LANC lead, not even camera-specific. I'd buy that.

If you're volunteering, the pinout info would be gratefully received!

OTOH, there may be some serial control involved (or maybe use of different resistance values?) - there are more than 5 functions for only 5 signal pins (IIRC.)

Ben.
