Can someone please share their workflow for bring C100 files into FCP 7?
I edit in PP but handing the project off to a FCP user and want to make sure the footage is interpreted properly.
Thanks
I would think that the footage needs to be transcoded to ProRes to edit in FCP7. I never had much luck editing with the AVCHD plugin Panasonic came out with for the AF-100. It crashed a lot and was sluggish.
If you haven't started the edit yet I would transcode all the footage to ProRes and XML the sequence or project out of Premiere. I have done this the other way from FCP7 to Premiere and it works pretty well. Titles dont work right and effects don't come over but the edits are spot on.
Good old ProRes 422. FCP7 likes it and so does Premiere Pro. You can use Prelude to transcode the footage to ProRes if you have FCP on your system. I'm assuming your on a mac. If your on a PC you should try this software out. I haven't but some PC friends say it works.
5DtoRGB does a great job - slower than other solutions, but it does a little chroma smoothing magic which can really help. Single shot version is free, batch version is $50. I couldn't see the difference on FS100 footage, I do on C100 footage. Go figure.
