C100: C100 EVF option

yes ..sorry Drew. Doh to me...that is why you posted to other C100 owners in the first place. Doin an online course at the moment and brain is a bit fried. Well I hope others get back to you soon on this. You'd think it would have been tested and discovered by now by either company.

I also own a Zacuto evf PRO and the peaking is the worst I have EVER seen. Just totally unusable. Doesn#t matter if you try to adjust the peaking level, it just won't work. Most of the time as already said, the EVF picks up the noise as "in-focus" areas.
To be honest... I owned a DP4, a Cinreroid gen1 and the Zacuto Pro and the Cineroid has been the best of them all. Besides that, I find it just unbelievable how low resolution all these EVFs are. The new Nexus 4,7inch phone, for 300USD, features a 1080 screen. Why we just simply get a usable 720 EVF? For 1000USD thats the absolut minimum to ask for...

just my 2cent.

I had a response from Zacuto saying it will be affected by high ISOs... Not what I wanted to hear as the native ISO
of the C100 is 850! It also doesn't explain why it's fine on my 550d or when looped through a Ninja 2.

Well it is like having a car that won't run on a frosty morning....to me if you cannot depnd on a product for most of the time it is no good to me. I won't be buying a Zacuto for the C100 if I buy one.

Just to update on the Zacuto EVF red peaking issue - when using ISOs at 850 (native for this camera) or lower the red peaking is acceptable though not as good as the C100 LCD peaking. The 'red snow' increases as the ISO is pushed upwards becoming unusable around 5000 ISO as noise is too great... so as a rule of thumb, only shoot in daylight or well lit locations! :(

There's a guy selling a Zacuto EVF Pro for $600 locally, and looking on eBay a bunch of them have sold for less than $500 lately (IIRC, a few for less than $400). I don't know if that's because Zacuto sold tons of these last year, or what, but there are some good deals on them second hand.
Has anyone here used the Kinotehnik LCDVFe? That's the one that looks the most promising to me. Low to zero latency, all the features, I just wonder if the screen is really that sharp in person? It looks good on the internets, but I'd love to hear from someone who actually uses it.
