I consistently see members making a completely new thread for ONE update, or a completely new thread for ONE reviewer. There's no really point in updating this.

Absolutely! It's up now. Amazing how much work they put into that.

Also, check out the 1D C firmware post in Canon FF, the new version 1.1.9 with 25p has been delivered to some users.

I'm hearing it won't be downloadable, the camera has to be sent in for the upgrade.

Thanks! I linked your thread. Any clue as to why they won't let you download it?

added. thanks for contributing.

I've got a first impressions article up:

http://www.productionfactory.se/articles/featured/firstimpression_1dc.html

Review is coming once I've got my 1Dc. Obviously I would have hoped to have had it by now... Good news is that at least the 1Dc is shipping again, now with the new firmware.

added. looking good, let me know whenever you have your review in.

UPDATE: The new firmware service upgrade for 1D C is now rolling out in the US, all 1D C owners need to call Canon Service Centre and send the camera in for a free upgrade, fast turnaround. The new version number is 1.1.9, there are a few other minor fixes besides 4K 25p.

Europe and the rest of the world will follow soon, please update thread.

When this is necessary it can only mean three things: they fear (because) they know it is overpriced (because) the(ir) technology is going lower any time from now on.

It is no secret that the price of the 1Dc is a feature.

It is what it is so that professionals can offer services that can't be done by any old hobbyist. Canon is protecting their professional users. It is not a new problem/phenomenon.

Ultimately, image making will be totally democratizised, when the technology is mature. But it is still being very much developed.

Book publishing on the other hand, once a professional business, is now totally available for anyone with a simple computer.

Canon has no obligation to provide its best technology at the lowest possible price, and they don't. If this is your assumption, it's simply wrong. It's a balancing act between what they can do and what the competition is offering.

Both of these updated, as well as another C300 review.
