C100: C100 AVCHD Files - how in the heck do you guys organize these things?

Right now if we have a full 32 gig card and have ten training videos, we have to put the entire card in each of those training videos folders. That takes 32gig and makes its 320 gig. So we want to take the footage and organize it on our hard drives for editing at a later time. Hope that helps clarify what we are looking to do.

Thanks for the clarification. My 2p:

For dog training videos, I would shoot everything on AVCHD 24Mbps - forget ProRes, if you're concerned about storage costs. 320 GBs for 10 videos worth of rushes doesn't seem outlandishly excessive - you just need to work out your sweet-spot for speed of retrieval vs cost. You've had some very valid suggestions so far in this thread.

Another alternative is to dedicate and write off 2 x 32 GB card for each video title - run them as dual slots (parallel recording on both cards) and put the cards into different physical locations afterwards, clearly labelled with the video title. SDHC cards are cheap - treat them like a tape that sits on the shelf and doesn't get re-used. Just make sure you're backing up a disk image of your SDHC card/s to 1 other place, to give you peace of mind.

Thank you for getting back to me, yes for training videos we really dont need the pro res, the only reason we will have the Ninja on there is for the 422 because some of the footage needs to be ok with broadcast quality or their requirements. I think what you suggested is exactly what I am going to do. I am going to get ten of these sd memory cards and just label each one for a different training video. This would be the easy way to handle and organize the footage.

And save us a ton of time, we are running three cameras but the others have no issues with organizing which should be a breeze. They shoot in 422 files which we can easily separate.

Everyone has given great input on this and I am thankful... what a great place to come and learn from others instead of messing up on own... lol

Love this site.

For those who have an Adobe Creative Cloud membership, Prelude works pretty well as in import/logging/renaming utility. It will also transcode to ProRes, if needed.

Well for anyone who needs to organize files of AVCHd, the easiest way is to buy a bunch of cards and organize the cards. I bought four 16 gig cards today that were fast on sale and only spent 90 bucks. Plus the other four I have which are 32 gig, so just going to organize the cards and label them. :) everyone here has been insanely helpful thanks for the input.
