C100: c100 and Go pro

We have 3 of the 3+. Shoots like a Big camera...Very crisp and sharp. The 3+ is the way to go.

I took mine white water river rafting and you need to use the helmet mount. The outfitter will give you their helmet so find out in advance if you can use yours. Your arms will be busy either paddling, hanging onto a rope for dear life or holding a kid in place so your GoPro has to be used hands free.
There's a prep session on land before the bunch of you enters the raft, the guide looks at how much you weigh, how strong you are and determines who sits where and naturally parents must sit with their kids. I mention this because you want to look around and determine who you don't want to be behind, if it's a tall male the footage you will get is the back of his neck. So tell the guide you'd like to sit where you can see ahead.
An angle to consider if you go twice is to sit up front and have the GP on the back of your helmet facing backwards. The expressions on peoples faces is like they're on a roller coaster. Remember, you won't get audio using the waterproof housing. There's lots of screaming when you hit the rapids.
I used mine for a water park client, lots of water slides. A good trick, and you may want to experiment with a garden hose, is to put Rain X on the housing lens port so one lousy big drop of water doesn't ruin your shot. It ruined many of my water slide shots till I learned about it.
And be sure to tip your guide.

Gp3+ black, the extra frame rates and pro tune is worth it 
For plastic mounts, get them on ebay as they are priced a lot more realistically and are identical in every way(quality, function, lifespan). I also picked up a metal cage(50$) with much sturdier 1/4 20 mounts all over it. Use it religiously and comes in handy on every shoot!

Thanks for the great advice! I bought a head strap but after reading this post maybe I should re-consider. I have seen couple of you tube videos an you are right the water droplets will ruin the video. I never would have thought about the Rain-x trick. I am glad I posted this before my trip, sometimes it is better to learn from some one else's experience.
What frame rate do you suggest?

Yes, a head strap won't work because most all rafting outfitters require helmets they provide. You can work up your own helmet if they allow. I would call them and would not be surprised if they already have a GoPro ready helmet! All these outdoor tourist/tip dependent companies love GPs. Once a customer is dumped into the river the greatest danger is them smashing their heads on the rocks and that's why they demand customers wear helmets.
But... Why are you bringing the C100? Is that for an angle from the river side of the raft passing by? Where are you going? Who are the outfitters?
I ask because often the outfitting company will have a still shooter in a special position shooting at a high shutter speed, and then will sell you the photos when you get back to their shop, and naturally everyone wants to buy one. If so, that's where you'd want the C100 to be, if he will share his rock. They are often in the river to get the raft coming right at the camera, which will be a challenge rack focusing. I'm jealous of you although I am always afraid of dunking my pro cameras. And don't leave any valuables in your car when you go rafting. All the local pro thieves know you'll be gone for 2-3 hours and there's no one to hear the car alarms.
I shoot 1080/30 on Go Pro. I do a lot for Animal Planet and that's the default request, they want the GPs on the dog's shoulders. I'm sure slo mo would be more bettah but...I'd try to do that in post. Once you're in the rapids it's just a roar and you won't even hear the people next to you screaming, plus you're scared to death. So audio is difficult.
