The adapter is physically recessed into the camera body slightly. This limits the range of c-mount lenses you can use, obviously; they would need to have a very narrow base so that they could fit within the recessed well of the adapter. That's why few security-camera lenses will work, their bases are too big and they won't seat into the recessed well of the adapter.

But if your lens will seat into the adapter, then focus isn't an issue. But sensor coverage is, because very few c-mount lenses will cover the AF100's near-35mm-sized sensor.
